The early history of aeronautics in the United States was made by men and women who had a dream and made that dream come true. The husband and wife team of Walter and Olive Ann Beech were a couple who pinned their hopes and their future on a radical. negative-stagger biplane known as the Model 17.
With a handful of workers and lots of courage, the infant Beech Aircraft Company was formed in April 1932 and the prototype Model 17R first flew in November of that year. From the moment its graceful wings took flight, the big, bullish biplane made the world sit up and take notice.
In the years that followed, Walter Beech pressed toward one goal above all else - to produce the best business and private airplanes that money could buy. Under his able direction and later that of his talented wife, Beech Aircraft Corporation has grown from eight employees to thousands of dedicated Beechcrafters worldwide,
